Story by Caroline Grigor:

Due to a change in discipline and breed, I began my search for the 'Ultimate Paint Horse'. I wanted good bloodlines, quality, height and temperament; which led me to the stallion 'Justa Shameless Beggar'.

I've had the absolute pleasure of owning my own Beggar baby (Sonny - a liver chestnut solid with a 'lot of chrome') since he was 3 months old.  He has always been a joy to handle and work with.  His temperament is second to none and he just gets better by the day.

We've nicknamed him "Forest" because his life really is a 'box of chocolates'.  He is a comical, sticky-beak and a valued, much loved member of my family.

Sonny's just been started under saddle (in December 2008)  and on his 2nd ride ever, the trainer rode him out in a 100 acre paddock amongst their cattle - a feat which very few of their 'starters'  are ever offered.  This is indicative of his sound mind and trainability.  He is proving to be a real all-rounder and is very good on his feet.  He's a tall boy, with awesome movement.  He stands at just on 16hh already as a 2 year old, and I look forward to competing with him in his Paintbred classes etc.

His career has only just begun and I have no doubt that he will succeed in whatever field he turns his hoof to.  The trainer's are very impressed with him and look  forward to furthering him in the near future.   We are taking our time with him, letting him grow and mature before he makes his mark.  Sonny will be a solid to watch!!

On another note, he is always well mannered at feed-time, in the paddock etc.  He is a dream to shoe, catch, float etc.  I just love my Beggar boy and thoroughly recommend Beggar as a sire to anyone seeking a versatile stallion.
